Fusion donates van to Plant Heritage Guernsey

Mar 21, 2019

We are delighted to have handed over the keys to our remaining van to Plant Heritage Guernsey to enable them to move their collection of plants around their various storage sites, to displays and plant sales as they require from time to time.

Alan Rowe, Managing Director of Fusion Systems commented, “Since we made the decision to focus on our Flyingboat fintech software products we have reduced our need for transporting goods and equipment to clients, so the vehicles were of less use to the business.  When we became aware of the logistical challenges that Plant Heritage faced with managing its collection of plants it became an obvious choice to pass the van on to them.”

David Fermont, Chair of Plant Heritage Guernsey added “As a charitable organisation we have to be very careful with how we use our limited funding so the donation of the van is really valuable to us.  Previously we have had to rely on using member’s vehicles to get our stock out to the plant sale events that we have going on at various times throughout the year where we display for sale a wide selection of rare and unusual garden plants.”

Plant Heritage Guernsey (PHG) was formed in 1987. Its objectives are to save and protect the plant heritage of the island by the establishment of plant collections both historical and specialist and to broaden the distribution of a wide range of cultivated plants to the Bailiwick's gardeners. PHG provides  lectures, tours, specialist plant sales and propagation of unusual plants. Currently the organisation is the holder of National Collection Status in the UK for its Nerine collection.
